Below are some action number rhymes which you can use to develop children’s understanding of numbers and also encourage them to initiate and continue the song/interaction with you.
Remember to sing these songs a few times with your child and show them how to move their hands/body by modelling it yourself.
Below are guidelines for when you can expect your child to encourage you to carry on with a song. Don’t expect them to do all of the actions first of all. They will probably learn to initiate the song last. Work backwards and get them to do the action for the last line first, as usually that has the most interesting action occurring.
